fields. For the kidney, it required developement of experimental models of
transplantation, development of renal dialysis and the developement of
immunosuppressive drugs.
The main phases of the history of renal transplantation are:
- Development of technique of vascular anastamosis
- Recognition that A new form of destruction led to failure of
grafted organs
- This new form of destruction was more aggressive on second challange
- The new form of destruction did not occur between identical twins
- This destructon could be impaired by immuno-suppressant drugs
