Peter Medawar

Peter Medawar worked as an immunologist - biologist in the United Kingdon. In 1944-45 he published papers on the second set response.[Med44,Med45] He was working with the plastic surgeon William Gibson to try to improve treatment of men burnt in the war and the initial funding came from the medical research council.

The second set response was an important early milestone in transplantation immunology.

He did alot of other work and won the Nobel prize and was knighted.
