Amyloidosis

Patients on long term dialysis develop amyloidosis due to the accumualtion of $\beta_2$ microglobulin. This $\beta_2$ microglobulin is a component of the class-I molecule.

One of the main dangers of amyloidosis is cardiac dysrhythmia, which may be fatal. Extra care should be taken in patients with long standing renal failure and dialysis, if they require surgery.
