Introduction

Most symptoms that a patient complains of have many different causes; some serious and some not so. Dysphagia belongs to a much rarer group of symptoms where the patient usually has a signigicant underlying pathology. When a patient complains of dysphagia the astute clinician should realise its significance and enquire further into the patients symptomatology.
