Prior to the introduciton of the the procedure for prolapse and haemorroids (PPH), the main interventional treatments for severe grade 3 and 4 haemorroids has been Milligan-Morgan open haemorroidectomy. This procedure is considered quite painful by patients.
The PPH procedure offeres the possibility of less pain and more rapid return to daily activities than conventional `open' haemorroidectomy.
