Snow, John (1813-1858)

Born 1813, died 1858 aged 45 years.

In 1854 he made a seminal observation on the use of a water pump in Broad Street and an outbreak of Cholera. He persuaded someone to remove the handle from the pump and the outbreak ceased.

In 1847, he had established himself as an anaesthetist specialising in the use of Chloroform.
