Hyperplastic Polyps

The importance of hyperplastic polyps is that they are not malignant at all. They may cause confusion because they are seen as an abnormality on endoscopy or contrast study and further investigation in the form of a biopsy is required to clarify the matter.

They usually appear to be the same colour as the surrounding bowel.
