CT staging of the liver

CT scanning is very useful for staging the liver. However, it must be realised that a conventional abdominal CT is not optimal. In addition the type of CT done to see a bowel cancer is not the best protocol either.

A triphasic CT is the best type of CT to check the liver for metastases.
