Indications for Insertion of Greenfield Filter

  1. Recurrent pulmonary emboli despite adequate anticoagulation
  2. Contra-indication to anti-coagulation in patients with pulmonary emboli as a result of deep venous thrombosis
  3. Recurrent pulmonary emboli associated with pulmonary hypertension or cor pulmonale
  4. Complications developing as a result of anticoagulation in patients with pulmonary embolism or deep venous thrombosis
  5. Prophylactically for patients with free-floating or poorly adherent thrombus proximally in the inferior vena cava, even when anticoagulated
