Lymphocyte function associated antigen-1 (LFA-1), the predominant
integrin is critical to transmigration of neutrophils and is important for
transmigration of other leucocytes. In vivo both CD11a and CD11b (Mac-1)
mono-clonal antibodies reduce inflammation. This shows some redundancy between
the functions of both LFA-1 and Mac-1. However, CD11b antibodies do not stop
transmigration and CD11b knockout mice do not show
defective transmigration.
