Orientation

This is the plain abdominal film (PFA) of a gentleman. The top of the image corresponds to the patients head. The right side of the image corresponds to the patients left hand side.

Description

There is a lead connected to a monitoring apparatus draped over the left side.

On the right side of the abdomen above the iliac crest there is a round opacity

It would appear to lie below and lateral to the kidney and is too low for an object in the gallbladder. It is not possible to be sure that it is inside the abdomen based upon this projection alone, a projection at 90 degrees to this one would help localise it to the abdomen.

If it is inside the abdomen the it appears to high and lateral for a calcified mesenteric node. It lies in the region of the ascending colon which can be seen outlined in faecal matter.
